Job Summary:

This position reports directly to the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. Duties will include assigning cases to the Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys whom they supervise; handling a full case load at all levels of court; serving as “Duty Officer” on a rotating basis by responding to calls and questions from law enforcement, citizens, and defense counsel; attending relevant training; and engaging with members of the community. The selected applicant must: have extensive jury trial experience; manage a heavy case load; be skilled in legal research and writing; and be able to work both collaboratively and independently in an office that values skillful litigation, civility, sound judgement, and above all, integrity.

Salary:

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Salary $103,007.97 – $190,564.75

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice in Virginia, four (4) years of experience as a licensed practicing attorney preferably in criminal law as a prosecutor. Applicants must be members in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
