Mississippi: Lawrence Corley, 17, has been charged with two counts of capital murder as of May 16, 2024. Coreley has been charged based on his knowledge and involvement of a home invasion robbery that resulted in the deaths of his two alleged accomplices who were shot my the owner of the home whom they were attempting to rob.

Kansas: Yanez Sanford, 41 was acquitted in the shooting deaths of a pregnant woman and a man in 2016. He was charged in 2020 for the crime when the child of the woman gave testimony to the incident that occurred when she was 4 years old, this coupled with DNA evidence found led to the filing. Defense attorneys highlighted that there was doubt in the child’s ID of Sanford, loss of evidence collected via police body camera, a lack of other evidence, a potential political agenda, and alternative suspects.
Suspect charged with capital murder in killing of Fairfield woman May 20, 2024
Texas: Julian Jefferson, 20 has been charged with the capital murder of Denise Ramos. Multiple state and federal agencies were involved in the investigation when Ramos’ body was found in March. Jefferson is in federal custody in California on an unrelated charge, prosecutors aim to extradite him back to Texas to stand trial.
