October 2014 Final Friday's Webinar
A recurring issue in prosecuting domestic violence cases is, “will the victim be present?” Sometimes you know from the first interview and other times you will not know until the day of trial. Because the rate of victim participation in domestic violence cases is often low, prosecutors may need to decide whether to go forward without the victim. It is important to understand that these cases can still be prosecuted. A thorough and well-documented investigation enables the prosecution to build an evidence-based case that does not rely on victim testimony. This presentation will examine evidence-based prosecution and enable prosecutors to try domestic violence cases where the victim is absent.
